- SAHUC Announces Date for First Accreditation List
Wednesday, January 8, 2020
The South African Hajj Umrah Council (SAHUC) has announced that it will release its first accreditation list for Hajj1441/2020 on 9 January.
The Saudi Arabian Hajj and Umrah ministry has granted South Africa a quota of three thousand five hundred to perform Hajj this year and will consider an additional one thousand hujjaj as requested by Sahuc.
In a statement Sahuc says accreditation acceptance or deferral of accreditation must be done by 26 January at 6pm while a selection of an accredited hajj operator must be done by 2 February also at 6pm.
Sahuc says if Hujjaj do not accept their accreditation or choose a hajj operator before the deadline, their accreditation will be cancelled and they will be docked 30 points.
The Hajj body releases a number of accreditation lists ahead of hajj because of the cancellation or deferrals by hujjaj allegedly due to the high cost of hajj packages amongst other issues.
South Africa has a waiting period of at least 4 to 5 years to perform hajj and more than 23,000 first time hujjaj that are still on the waiting list.
