MADINAH — The commercial sector accounts for approximately 80 percent of the total development projects currently being implemented in the Madinah region since 2025, with 206 of the 280 projects distributed across 12 development sectors. This reflects the region’s growing economic and investment activity and reinforces its position as a vital commercial center.

According to a report issued by the Madinah Chamber of Commerce, a total of 280 development projects are currently being implemented, with an estimated combined value of approximately SR200 billion. These include 250 private-sector projects, 20 government projects, and 10 semi-governmental projects.

The development projects are expected to create more than 125,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, supporting the labor market, expanding employment opportunities for citizens, and enhancing the participation of national cadres in the economic development process.

The ongoing development projects are distributed across several sectors, with the commercial sector leading with 206 projects, followed by the commercial residential sector with 25 projects, the health sector with 11 projects, the residential sector with 10 projects, and the educational sector with 8 projects.

The list also includes five projects in the religious sector and four in the tourism sector, in addition to six projects in the public facilities and three projects in corporate sectors, as well as one project each in the entertainment and agricultural sectors.

According to the report, the total investment areas of major development projects exceed 30 million square metres, underscoring the scale of urban expansion witnessed by Madinah and the increasing transformation in land-use patterns to support sustainable urban development. The implementation of these projects forms part of efforts to enhance the quality of public services and keep pace with the continued growth in the numbers of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and visitors, in line with the goal of receiving 30 million visitors annually by 2030.

The report indicated that the scale of investments and the size of the projects being implemented will enhance their impact on the national economy and the development of the Madinah region. They also reflect the contribution of Saudi Vision 2030 to transforming the region into an advanced economic center and an attractive destination for local and international investments.

The report confirmed that Madinah enjoys an attractive investment environment that enables investors and businessmen to expand their businesses across various sectors, most notably construction, transportation and logistics services, trade, tourism, hospitality, catering, and restaurants, in addition to a number of promising sectors that meet the needs of population, tourism, and economic growth in the region.
