First SA hujjaj to depart on Sunday
With the first group of South Africans set to embark on Haj 2017 this week, role-players in the haj sector are now tightening their logistical arrangements for the haj season. Some 2 million pilgrims from around the world will travel to the holy cities for the annual pilgrimage, which takes place over five days. This year, the hajj will commence on Wednesday 30th August and conclude on Monday 4th September.

Vaccination rules for Haj pilgrims announced
Vaccination against meningitis is mandatory for all local and foreign pilgrims. The flu vaccine is not mandatory but it is desirable to take it considering the climate and susceptibility of pilgrims.

Hajj 2017: Nigeria risks losing thousands of slots in future, group warns
“Of the 75, 000 allocated to states, only 51, 000 has been utilised leaving 19, 000 seats unsold. The slow response of pilgrims is being attributed to the hope of possible government’s intervention of granting lower exchange rate to reduce the 2017 hajj fare,” the civil society said.

Ethiopia: Quota Increment Delineates Ethio-Saudi Relation - Council
Council President Sheikh Muhammad-Amin Jamal Omar told The Ethiopian Herald that agreement was reached with Saudi Arabian government to expand Ethiopian Hajj pilgrims' quota to 15,000 in the current year.
